The Asian continent, where more than two thirds of the world’s population lives, and the Pacific region, where most of the emerging lands are very small, find themselves under huge pressure in terms of their natural resources, and consequently the stakes concerning sustainable development are critical.
Oréade-Brèche has been involved the Asia-Pacific region for several years in the fields of environment protection, forest management and rural development.

Biodiversity Conservation and Development of Xianju County Project
Client(s) : Xianju National Park Development Co. Ltd. - 2017 - 2022
The final goal of the project is to establish a pilot national park in Xianju County, for the effective conservation and wise use of biodiversity resources, according to the following specific objectives:
- Insure a high level of conservation and restoration of the biodiversity of the future national park.
- Boost the economic growth and promote a local economic development with a benefit and a livelihood improvement for the local communities, based on the values of ecosystems, landscape and historic and cultural heritage.
- Set up an efficient governance for the national park
To meet the expectations for the Demonstration project on biodiversity conservation and development of Xianju County Project, the consortium implemented 8 specific tasks:
- Task 1: Technical assistance to the project implementation (including technical assistance, training programme and GIS);
- Task 2: Technical assistance to the establishment of an effective and participative management system for the National Park (setting up and supporting the National Park management committee);
- Task 3: Technical assistance for designing the National Park brand value-added products system (including local goods and services and promoting territorial development);
- Task 4: Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), Resettlement Action Plan (RAP), Gender Action Plan (GAP), and Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP), including monitoring program;
- Task 5 - Identify biodiversity hotspots and different ecosystem sensitivities, based on an improved knowledge of biodiversity;
- Task 6: Design and implement a conservation biology applied-research programme on endangered species, habitats and ecosystems (including specific studies and applied research on key ecosystems and conservation biology research on rare and endangered species);
- Task 7: Preparation of application forms to be submitted to the Man and Biosphere (MAB) programme and the World Heritage List;
- Task 8: Production of 4 video documentaries on the special feature of Xianju NP biodiversity, volcano-rhyolite, and remarkable species.
